Nothing Over $7 Ross and Marshalls Mini Haul
Wednesday, August 22, 2018I cannot let my LA vacation pass without shopping at Ross and Marshalls! A trip to these discount department stores is worth it, especially if you’re looking for new items to purchase. The first ever item I bought in Marshalls is a Ralph Lauren button down shirt from two years ago (around $25) and I’ve been using it until now. From Ross, I still have my Ralph Lauren backpack which I bought in Guam last December.
My agenda in checking out these stores was to get some small stuff I need and items I can share with my friends after my trip to the US. Each item here is only less than $7 (before sales tax). Without further ado, here are my 5 purchases from Ross and Marshalls.
1. Reduce Hitch 20 oz. Bottle
Solely for the purpose of having a useful, everyday water container, I got this bottle from the brand Reduce. I like that it’s big enough to store my drinks, but not too big that I find it hard to hold or carry around inside my bag.
It’s got a wide opening which is perfect for putting in ice inside the bottle. The packaging says it’s spill proof, sweat proof, and keeps the liquid content inside cold up to 24 hours. I haven’t tested its claims yet, but I did use it for cold juice with ice and it kept my drink cold – longer than I expected.
Aside from its vivid color, I like that it has a carabiner screw cap which comes in handy to attach to your bag when you travel.

2. Body Prescriptions Collagen Facial Cleansing Wipes
I use makeup remover wipes as part of my everyday, nighttime beauty routine. I consume at least one towelette daily. And since I was already out of my stash at the time, I got this pack from Body Prescriptions as I was rummaging through the aisles in Marshalls.
I haven’t heard of this brand before, but the branch I went into had this in different variants. The variants include Vitamin C, Tea Tree, Charcoal, Cucumber, Coconut, Micellar, and more. I picked the one in Collagen, hoping this would not cause me any skin breakout.
Fortunately, it did not. And how I wish I hoarded more. Aside from its eye-catching packaging, I like that it has a lock mechanism cover to prevent the wet towelettes from drying out too fast. Each wipe is damp enough to remove makeup - even stubborn mascara.
I usually stay away from towelettes with design or exfoliating features because they tend to scratch the skin’s surface. However, this one feels soft and smooth on the skin. Smells so good, too! It reminds me of a fresh, out-of-the-shower scent. Again, I wish I got more of this because of its quality and price point (Amazon sells this at $12.99 for 2 packs).

3. Reebok No-Show Sock Liners (3-Pack)
After losing some of my no-show socks, I decided to get a few pairs. I like these type of socks because they are great for tennis-style sneakers. Initially, I wanted a pack of 3 from the Uniqlo store at Union Square (priced at $9.90), but since I can easily purchase the brand in the Philippines, I chose this Reebok trio instead.
And I wish I just bought the ones from Uniqlo. These ones from Reebok aren’t bad, but they’re not the best ones I tried. I think the material is a tad bit thinner and lower in quality because I can feel the uncomfortable grip of the lining at the end of the day. The non slip heel grip is a little bothersome when you’ve been wearing the socks for more than 8 hours. To be honest, the cheap socks you can buy in Korea are better.

4. Casa Toscana Coconut Oil Hand Cream Collection
I'm a fan of hand creams. It's something that I always carry inside my everyday cosmetic case. Not only is this one of the best souvenirs you can bring home to friends and colleagues, it’s also one of the most useful.
Attracted to its simple, modern packaging, I got a box of these hand creams at a very affordable price. I’ve never heard of the brand Casa Toscana and very little things were spoken about it, such as having very little product inside each tube - which I have to agree with.
Each tube contains 30ml, but it feels like I’m getting less than that. Once you peel off the protective seal, almost half of the tube only contains air. It’s nice that the scent is light and fresh (at least, for lavender sage), but it’s not the most moisturizing hand cream I tried.

5. Daisy Fuentes Hand Cream Collection
You’ve probably heard the name Daisy Fuentes if you lived watching MTV in the 90’s. From being a VJ and host, the Latina beauty ventured into beauty products. Grabbing another box of hand creams at Ross, I decided to give Fuentes’ collection at try.
Same with the Casa Toscana collection, each tube contains 30 ml of product. The packaging looks luxurious and intended for the more mature crowd. However, I feel like the scent is much better. I have yet to try and finish one tube and see if this is better than Casa Toscana. I’ll update this post once I found the answer.
